Our Reproductive Surgery Options Can Help You on Your Journey to Conceive

Posted .

If you are having issues with conception and you are a woman, reproductive surgery can further your odds of achieving a successful pregnancy. Our board-certified reproductive specialists perform these surgeries to correct health conditions that have an adverse impact on fertility. If, for example, there are malformations in the reproductive system, correcting a gynecological condition such as fibroids, polyps or reversing a previous tubal ligation can increase your reproductive abilities.

When you work with our Utah Fertility Center team, we will start by assessing your condition to determine if you are a good candidate for reproductive surgery. We will perform a thorough, gentle examination and review your medical history to determine which procedure is best for your needs. Once you are given the go-ahead, you will be in excellent hands. You will receive the attentive care you need, be informed as to what you can expect at each step along the way, and helped to feel as comfortable as possible.

Reproductive Surgical Options

The reproductive surgical treatments we perform are done on an outpatient basis in our office’s day-surgery setting and are minimally invasive. Let’s take a look at the surgical options we provide for our patients seeking reproductive assistance:

1-Laparoscopy – using a laparoscopic device, a narrow instrument equipped with a camera lens is placed into your pelvic cavity through a small incision. Seeing your pelvic organs helps our specialists make an accurate diagnosis so reparative treatment can be done, such as removing scar tissues or correcting damaged fallopian tubes.

2- Hysteroscopy – using a long, narrow tube equipped with a camera and light is placed into the uterus via the cervix so we can view the uterus and remove any scar tissue, polyps or fibroids.

3-Myomectomy – this procedure allows us to remove uterine fibroids and reconstruct the uterus. Uterine fibroids are common noncancerous growths which are causing pain, pressure or bleeding in your uterus. This is especially important if the fibroids are impacting your uterine cavity as well as muscles.

4- Tubal Reanastomosis – this is done to microscopically reconnect previously ligated fallopian tubes and does involve a one-day hospitalization. This surgery is highly successful at re-connecting the fallopian tubes, increasing conception rates which are dependent on your age.
