How Ovulation Induction Can Help You Conceive

Posted .

When a womans reproductive system fails to work as it was designed to, she may be engaged in an ongoing struggle to conceive naturally. This scenario may arise as the result of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or irregular menstrual cycles which prevent the egg from maturing and releasing properly. Another viable option for dealing with infertility includes ovulation induction, which stimulates the maturation and release of a woman’s eggs with the help of hormone therapy.

This method is generally used when a woman can’t ovulate normally on her own. These hormones can be derived from pill form or injection to make the body react as if the estrogen levels are low, by stimulating the Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in the brain. This will cause the release of an egg (or more than one). Of course, the greater the number of eggs released during the cycle, the higher the chances of conception.

With ovulation induction, we essentially help you regulate your cycle normally, by releasing more than one egg each menstrual cycle (effectively raising your odds of conception), and on occasion, may combine this with intrauterine inseminations (IUI) of sperm to help with fertilization. To lessen the risk of having twins or multiple births, we will carefully monitor this process with the help of ultrasounds.
